A geophone picks up the sound of water escaping from a pressurised pipe. It is the fastest method in flats and apartments, with pipes embedded under the floor, in partition walls or in the building’s service ducts.
We fill the pipe with a harmless mixture of hydrogen and nitrogen, which escapes through the break and is detected at the surface. It is the right method for very small leaks and for pipes under screeds, terraces or communal gardens.
A thermal imaging camera shows temperature differences in ceilings, floors and walls. It helps us follow the water back to its source when the stain appears on a different floor from the leak.
